Abstract

To underline the currency of this volume on second language acquisition (SLA) and language testing, this opening chapter argues that these two areas of inquiry are strongly interfaced. Four important concepts that bind the two areas are introduced and illustrated. Recommendations are provided on how to ensure a transparent and productive interface between SLA and language testing, in order to benefit insights into L2 learning and L2-learning outcomes.
