'A Wheel Within'. 20 paintings from this series will be displayed at Helmshore Mill, alongside an exhibition by James Fox, 'Rights, Riots, Routes'. My paintings, in gouache and ink, comprise overpainting of pages from the 1895 publication on cycling, 'A Wheel within a Wheel' by Frances Willard. This work has emerged from the research I undertook into the history of cycling cultures for my book 'Cycling and Cinema' (MIT 2019).
