On July 23rd, Dr. Ines Labarta and Prof. Andy Tate put together the first EL&CW Comics & Image-Text Narratives Conference! Fintan Chan presented their insights into the formal and narrative representations of DID in Marvel’s Moon Knight, Dr. Kwasu Tembo presented a creative-critical defence of DC Comics’ Superman, and Dr. Labarta conducted a restorative comics workshop that tapped into the attendees’ psycho-emotional states in pursuit of greater well-being. She also introduced the work of Antoni Konieczny, who took attendees on a journey of creating his independent co-authored zine War Watchers. Prof. Tate served as a wonderful chair for what is the first of many to come!
