What can we learn from international research on assisted dying?

Activity: Talk or presentation typesOral presentation

4/02/2025

In this webinar Professors Nancy Preston and Suzanne Ost from Lancaster University present their international research on assisted dying, which shows the complexity involved in the delivery of assisted dying in practice. This includes findings from interviews with bereaved family members and health care workers.

Building upon this research, they propose a model for assisted dying that would sit largely outside of the healthcare system. They also address practical issues about the current Bill before the UK parliament which will be challenging to implement.

This webinar was organised by the NIHR ARC Palliative and End of Life Care National Leadership forum, part of a series featuring insights and discussions with leading experts.
