QD2D project

Press/Media: Research

Description

QD2D is a European ERA+ project with partners in Germany (U. Duisberg-Essen and TU Berlin) and the Netherlands (TU Eindhoven), and is supported in the UK by EPSRC. The project is investigating the interaction between tiny (zero-dimensional) objects called quantum dots (QDs) and a two-dimensional (2D) layer or quantum well. In particular, there is a focus on studying QDs made of the compound semiconductor gallium-antimonide (GaSb), which have potential as a basis for a new type of memory device.
