Dr Abe Sweiry's research interests include hate crime, hate speech, contemporary antisemitism and the sociology of racism.
He is currently conducting research on Hate Speech as part of the ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS). The project is centred on an examination of Crown Prosecution Service files to identify the triggers for racially and religiously aggravated prosecutions.
Dr Sweiry is also working on the application of corpus linguistic techniques to the research of hate speech on social media.
