Profile

I am a sustainable interaction design researcher with a particular interest in how digital technologies can be designed to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of domestic, everyday life. Digital technologies afford an array of very useful functionalities that offer huge potential for domestic sustainability (e.g. pervasive connectedness, communication, sensing and actuating the physical environment, logging, analysing and summarising large amounts of data), and I have a keen interest in how new technologies can be designed both to unpack and understand the impacts of everyday practices, as well as to be integrated into everyday life, promoting and supporting sustainable living through tools for e.g. understanding, educating, controlling and interacting with infrastructure, increasing awareness and transparency, and building and enabling communities.
