Research overview

My research focuses on German and Austrian contemporary literature. More specifically, I am interested in the Austrian writer Elfriede Jelinek and different aspects of her ongoing work. In my previous research I focused on intermediality of Jelinek’s Winterreise, proving the classical music basis which Jelinek used to structure this piece. Currently, I am working on my PhD-project “Speaking the Unspeakable. Pushing at Boundaries and Challenging Normativity in the Works of Elfriede Jelinek, Elisabeth Reichart and Charlotte Roche”. The thesis aims to investigate the subversive potential of these authors’ works and argues that they create awareness of traditions and boundaries within contemporary culture that allow a way out of normative binary thinking.
