David has over 30 years’ experience of undertaking high quality qualitative and quantitative research with SMEs and entrepreneurs. He returned to the UK in May 2014 after a full time role at Massey University in New Zealand, holding a Chair in Small Business, and is the former Director of the New Zealand Centre for SME Research (NZSMERC). Whilst Director of NZSMERC, from 1 September 2009 to 31 January 2014, he was the Principal Investigator and led a number of research projects undertaken for the New Zealand Government on SMEs including regulation, internationalization and innovation. He also completed consultancy and research projects for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) organisation and for the OECD.
