Research overview

I use data science techniques for improving our understanding of the cryosphere. Currently I focus on ice sheet surface processes and large datasets, but I have interests in the applications for ice sheets, ice shelves, and mountain glaciers/ice caps. I am particularly interested in looking at complex spatial data with new techniques that allow us to find additional value in earth observation datasets.

PhD supervision

I cannot take on the role of a primary supervisor as a non-permanent staff member, but I would be interested in co-supervising projects relating to both process modelling and statistical modelling for glacier/ice sheet change, or applications of statistical models for spatio-temporal environmental data within or outside of glaciology.

Profile

I became a glaciologist from a background as an undergraduate mathematician and commercial software developer, and now bring these areas of expertise together to focus on data science applications in glaciology.
