Research overview

Dr James McDowell is the Principal of Graduate College, and leads the Student Experience team in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, James has oversight of quality assurance and employability activities across FASS, and is responsible for the enhancement of student satisfaction and retention.

 
James's research interests fall broadly within the field of technology-enhanced learning, with a particular focus on the uses of technology to improve inclusivity for learners affected by dyslexia and Asperger's Syndrome. 

PhD supervision

Dr McDowell is happy to be involved in PhD supervision in the broad area of technology-enhanced learning, and would be interested in hearing from propsepctive doctoral researchers looking to explore uses of video to enhance learning, assessment and feedback, and uses of technology in the area of inclusivity (with a particular focus on dyslexia and autistic spectrum conditions).
