Lara’s research interests centre on the justice needs of victim/survivors of sexual violence. She advocates for evidence-based reform of the criminal justice response to rape and other sexual offences. She was awarded a Doctoral Training Alliance Social Policy Scholarship to conduct her PhD research into victim/survivors’, ISVAs’, barristers’, and jurors’ experiences of rape trials in England and Wales. In 2018 she was invited to meet with the Serious Sexual Offence Judicial Review Committee to discuss her research and recommendations for change. She is currently working as a research associate on the JiCSAV research team.
