Research overview

My research is focused on how Sina Weibo shaped the appropriate perceptions in Chinese disaster response. First, to understand the information needs of different stakeholder groups to identify what is appropriate information in a disaster situation. Second, how people are practising trust and establish credibility in a disaster then need to be identified. Third, to discuss the relationship between citizens and government in disaster response on social media to shape the perception of appropriate disaster response. Finally, different user groups negotiate responsibilities and powers on the virtual public sphere should be understood under a realistic disaster scenario.
