Research overview

My research focusses on rapport building, its maintenance and rapport’s role in information provision in Human Intelligence Interviews.

Despite rapport being critical to the success of investigative interviews, there is no current gold standard measure of the construct. We propose motion capture as a bias free real time measure of rapport. Using motion capture, we wish to study how verbal and nonverbal behaviour (i.e., mimicry) co-occur, and how these feed into rapport and cooperation during the investigative-style interview. Further, we explore emotional mimicry between the interviewer and interviewee.
