Dr Michael O'Malley

Research student

Profile

I graduated from University College Dublin with a BSci in Mathematics and Statistics, along with a year in University British Columbia as part of my degree. During my undergraduate I found the range of applications of Statistics and Computing particularly interesting. After finishing my degree, I joined STOR-I as I was keen to work further on real world problems.

My PhD is concerned with applying statistical methods to Large datasets which are associated with tracking objects in some sense. One of the main applications being the GPS tracking of objects which drift freely in the Ocean. I am supervised by Adam Sykulski and David Leslie.
