Peter Forman is a Senior Research Associate on the ‘Flexibility’ theme of the UKRI-funded ‘Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions’ (www.creds.ac.uk/flexibility). His role on the project involves investigating the past, present and future of flexibility in relation to UK energy demand.
Peter’s broader research interests cover the relationships between energy, infrastructures, everyday (in)securities and political ecologies. He is particularly concerned with conceptualising the causes and consequences of dynamism and change within socio-material systems, and with examining the technologies and strategies employed to anticipate these changes and render them known and governable.
In 2017, Peter completed his ESRC-funded geography doctoral thesis at Durham University. In this work, he looked at the everyday (in)security politics surrounding the UK circulation of natural gas. He later held a teaching fellowship at the Institute for Political Science, University of Tuebingen (Germany), where he taught on the themes of security and contemporary energy politics. He also recently held a 6-month research associate position at Durham University, working with Professor Nicky Gregson to research (in)flexibilities within contemporary UK waste management systems. Peter holds an MA in Social Research Methods and a BA(Hons) in Human Geography.
