Profile

I am a Chemical Engineer and Materials Scientist with a rich academic and industrial background, currently serving as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Lancaster University. My journey began at Sharif University of Technology in Iran, traversed through Pennsylvania State University in the US, and culminated in a PhD from the prestigious Paul Scherrer Institute and EPFL in Switzerland.

 

In 2019, I moved to the UK and enriched my research portfolio with a postdoctoral stay at Cambridge University, followed by industry roles at Siemens and Unilever. This blend of academia and industry has honed my skills in materials and process modelling and simulation, and fostered a deep understanding of both fundamental and applied research.

 

My expertise lies in the development and application of in-silico tools, spanning molecular to macroscopic scales, and embracing both data-driven and mechanistic techniques. My research is bifurcated into two main streams:

 

  1. Materials: I leverage data analytics and predictive modelling tools, incorporating insights from molecular and coarse-grained simulations, to expedite sustainable product development. My current focus is on the design and discovery of surfactant molecules, with an emphasis on preserving the generality of our work to facilitate its transfer to other systems, including pharmaceuticals, polymers, and biomolecules.

 

  1. Processes: I concentrate on the development and application of computer-aided tools for the design of pharmaceutical manufacturing, production of formulated products, and product performance testing. This encompasses multiscale simulation of chemical processes and the development of end-to-end digital twins for the production and utilisation of formulated products.

 

I am always open to collaborations and discussions that can push the boundaries of our understanding and application of chemical engineering and materials science.
