Where is my mind?: Trauma, transcendence and the gothic-grotesque in alt. rock.

My current research focuses on the role the body in late 20th century/early 21st century popular culture, with particularly in relation to popular music. I am interested in the increasingly gothic and grotesque nature of the musical body, and it's function in exploring transcendence, Cartesian duality and narratives of authenticity. 

Aside from contemporary gothic, I am especially interested in children's literature in relation to gendering, as well as posthumanism and queer theory.
