Ryan's research interests include the following areas:
The Law of Contract (both international and domestic)
Commerical Law
Company Law
Equity and Trusts
Jurisprudence
Ryan is particularly interested in the overlap of the above areas in both legal theory and legal practice such as the overlap between company and contract law in business relations.
Ryan's thesis is on the applicability of Relational Contract Theory to English contract law. His research aims to highlight the disparity between classical contract law and commerical practice, to elucidate Relational Contract Theory, and to determine its optimal role in both law and society. In doing so, the research will further examine the jurisprudence of contract law and analyse them in light of empirical data suggesting the non-use of contract in business relations.
