Dr Sean Ryan

Research student

Profile

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2016 having completed a BSci in Mathematics. I was primarily interested in the optimization and statistics components of my degree and became interested in pursuing a research career at the intersection of these areas. This led me to the STOR-i program. After completing the MRes year I began a Phd under the supervision of Rebecca Killick in October 2017.

My PhD is focused on developing computationally efficient methods for detecting and locating changepoints in multivariate time series, a problem that combines ideas from both statistics and optimization.
