Dr Yuze Huang

Formerly at Lancaster University

Research overview

Yuze serves as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Mechanical Engineering. His research primarily revolves around Metal Additive Manufacturing and Welding, with a key focus on process development, modelling, optimisation, defects digitalisation, and their elimination. Yuze's current research interests include:

  • Metal additive manufacturing (Wire-DED, Powder-DED, L-PBF/SLM, E-PBF), laser cladding and welding.
  • Physics-informed modeling (machine learning and mechanistic models), monitoring to suppress defects and enhance quality control in metal additive manufacturing and welding.
  • Metal matrix composites additive manufacturing.
  • Bi-materials and multi-materials additive manufacturing.
  • Hybrid advanced manufacturing.

PhD supervision

Yuze is open to supervising PhD students in the following areas. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with him if you are interested. [1] Laser Metal Additive Manufacturing (Wire-DED, Powder-DED, PBF/SLM) [2] Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing

Professional Role

Member of Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining
