The primary texts addressed here are very short works of satire: short dramas, or ‘dramolets’, by Antonio Fian, and a graphic novel by Leo Lukas and Gerhard Haderer, genres of writing that are, arguably, not designed for actual performance. Dramolets are often conceived as resistant to, or at least ironically challenging towards the very notion of performing them. The discussion here uses insights from performativity theory to offer a reading of these works as political, resistance writing. In particular, Fian’s and Lukas/Gerhard’s publications present an ironically deconstructed version of the late, right-wing, Austrian politician and controversial populist leader, Jörg Haider.
