N2 - SAR signals over a small catchment are qualitatively evaluated using the data collected in an multi-sensor airborne campaign. Results are used to address the problems in relation to soil moisture estimation. It is found that short grass canopy does not have a significant effect on the SAR echoes. Polarization ratios may not be adequate for the soil moisture retrieval purposes.
