Abstract

This chapter examines the development and use of collaborative learning within management learning, education and development. Collaborative approaches to learning have a relatively long history in management learning and education. Early examples of collaborative learning approaches and designs are linked to the advent and introduction of the idea of the learning community in the 1980s. Also discussed is the more current and prevalent interest that are associated with collaborative learning in communities of practice and online learning communities.
