Abstract

First, relevant approaches to (critical) discourse studies ([C]
DS) are discussed, – subsequently – to their analysis of far-right/radical right populist text, talk and image. I will then present the most important dimensions of far-right populist ideologies, of related discursive strategies, rhetorical tropes, pragmatic devices and argumentation schemes employed to express and realize both form and content of such rhetoric, always in respect to specific genres, performative dimensions and semiotic affordances. To a substantial extent,
these strategies contribute to the success of far-right/radical right populism.
