Abstract

How are madness and violence represented in media culture? How is a ‘natural’ or ‘causal’ relationship between madness and violence imagined, produced, circulated and resisted in media? This chapter reviews the existing literature on madness and violence in the media. In disentangling madness, violence and media, new perspectives and routes for action emerge.
