Abstract

A series of analytical models of the Sharanam Centre for Rural Development in Pondicherry, South India, designed and built by Jateen Lad and completed in 2014, were made and exhibited at MiamiCAD presented by the European Cultural Centre between 11.11.21 and 30.01.22.
The models offer a retrospective reading of the built work, helping to understand and communicate the design intentions and real outcomes. Three constructs – topography, spatial sequence and detail assembly show the architectural and material strategies through a range of scales.
The triptych was displayed alongside large format photographic images to communicate the building located in Pondicherry South India to a new audience and contexts in Miami USA.
