The motivation issue caused by a lack of reward structure for public outreach activities is considered as one of the factors resulting in the barrier between academics and practitioners. Based on expectancy theory, the present study provided a list of practical recommendations regarding how to improve scholars’ motivation to reach out and communicate their works to the public.
