N2 - The chapter reviews the literature reported during 2005 on the noble metals (Ru, Os, Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt, Ag and Au). Attention is drawn in particular to an unprecedented η3-Au3 coordination mode in a terpyridine ligand (Chem. Commun., 2005, 3355), a new blue luminescent cyclometallated iridium N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) species (Inorg. Chem., 2005, 44, 7992), a triple-decker mixed metal rhodium sandwhich complexes isolated from a B-phenylborole (Eur. J. Inorg. Chem., 2005, 1737) and a remarkable diamidorhodate (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2005, 44, 6325).
