North American journalism—from Greenland to Canada and the United States—continues to experience immense technological and ideological challenges in a digital news age. Increasingly, fragmenting media audiences and expanding economic threats from the Internet have placed strain on the continent's news media in ways that have both broadened and threatened journalistic authority. This entry begins by discussing current changes within media ecosystems and economies of North America.
