Fenton has Special Individual Circumstances and Early Career Researcher status. Fenton is the sole artistic curator of the Nuffield New Works series, a 5-year international artist commissioning and co-production programme funded by Arts Council England. The project has generated '340,000 of public funding and developed over 20 innovative performance works of the highest calibre for national and international touring from some of the leading names in contemporary UK theatre, dance and live art. The programme's central concern is the facilitation of risk-taking artists in researching and developing works which, without the time, resources and opportunities to reflect afforded by the programme, would not have otherwise been made. The Nuffield Theatre is defined as a 'safe house' for such activity by Arts Council England. Artistic quality and audience reach is evidenced by the project's major international and UK co-producing partners (see below) and the range of international tours the works have subsequently undertaken. These tours have garnered significant international and national press coverage, details of which are attached. Curatorial selection responded to the following strands: What kinds of performative responses are theatre and dance artists making to contemporary culture, distinct from other areas of social and artistic practice? How might we extend the territory for writing for performance? What is participatory practice and how might the artistic process be opened out to the public? Co-production partners include: Royal Opera House, Sheffield Theatres Group, Battersea Arts Centre, British Council, Sophiensaele (Berlin), Kunsten Festival des Arts (Brussels), Weiner Festwochen, Centre Pompidou (Paris) and Tramway (Glasgow). A full list of commissioned works is attached as part of the evidence. RAE_import_type : Other form of assessable output RAE_uoa_type : LICA
