N2 - This short piece is an introduction to the Dialogue section. It provides abrief outline context to the panel discussion which took place during the2023 Global Mobility Humanities Conference & Annual Conference of theInternational Association for the History of Transport, Traffic and Mobilityco-hosted by T2M and Academy of Mobility Humanities (AMH) in Seoulin 2023. The panel invited reflections from four T2M presidents, namely,Hans-Liudger Dienel, Mimi Sheller, Mathieu Flonneau, and Carlos LópezGalviz, as a means of supplementing one of the conference keynotesby Gijs Mom, founding president of T2M. Using the editorials of the firstissues of five journals, this piece brings together contributions madeover the past seventy years to the fields of transport history and mobilitystudies, providing a relevant background to the various issues discussedduring the Dialogue.
