Abstract

In this paper we discuss novel gestural interactions that are supported by Resonant Bits , from subconscious micro-gestures through to free-hand gestures around tangibles. The Resonant Bits concept proposes a link between the digital world of bits and the physical world of atoms by bestowing dynamic properties to digital media allowing people to explore and control content by shaking, tapping, rocking, oscillating and swaying the device to resonate with the digital bits within. We explore the possibilities of tangible gestural interaction with Resonant Bits through design sketches and from these highlight the main traits of this novel form of interaction with tangible interfaces.
