Supervisors and students are both shaped by the process of making PhD theses and research projects and in my view co-supervision is a critical but often overlooked form of academic interaction. In this short contribution I reflect on experiences of co-supervising, shared with John and with Juliet Jain (2004), Nick Pearce (2006), James Tomasson (2010), Allison Hui (2011) and Owen Dowsett, and with Noel Cass who worked with us as a research associate in 2003.
