Abstract

This paper is concerned with the comparison of the X25 protocols, designed for wide area networking, and the protocols used on the Cambridge Ring local area network at Cambridge University Computer Laboratory. We relate these protocols to the ISO reference model and compare the two approaches with a view to exploiting X25 in local area networks.
