“Spotlights on Science” was a pair of public lecture evenings on the theme of science and technology that took place at The Storey lecture theatre in Lancaster on Thursday 7th March and Tuesday 12th March, 2024. Each evening featured four 15-minute talks by student speakers, plus a guest talk by a University academic. The student presentations formed part of the new Teaching, Outreach and Public Engagement (TOPE) undergraduate module at Lancaster University, that ran for the first time in 2023/24. The talks covered a broad range of topics including lasers, climate science, free will, volcanoes, nuclear reactors, the universe, and bees!
