Ionospheric Electric Field Morphologies during Geomagnetic Storm Phases 2.0

Dataset

Description

This dataset replaces the previous version available at: 10.17635/lancaster/researchdata/344

Average high-latitude ionospheric convection and electric field morphologies during geomagnetic storm phases for the years 2010-2016 (using a storm list from Walach & Grocott, 2019, doi:10.1029/2019JA026816) and data from the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network.

The maps were created at a 2-minute resolution in relation to the normalised median duration of each storm phase. The SuperDARN data was processed using the Radar Software Toolkit V4.2 (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.1403226) and the line-of-sight measurements were gridded, merged and dayside padding was added. The spherical harmonic fitting used, was of 8th order. This is an ancillary dataset and the updated version of the dataset (DOI: 10.17635/lancaster/researchdata/344). Please see the manuscript for further details: "Average Ionospheric Electric Field Morphologies during Geomagnetic Storm Phases", by Walach et al., resubmitted to JGR: Space Physics, 2021.
