Two databases of information about ballads. These are the research on which my PhD (Mid-Tudor Ballads: Music Words and Context, University of Manchester, 2015) and the monograph Singing the News: Ballads in Mid-Tudor England (Abingdon:Routledge, 2018) were based. The first includes transcriptions, bibliographic information and analysis of more than 400 ballads in print and manuscript. The transcriptions were mainly completed by the creator from origianl manuscripts and printed materials at variouso UK archives or from digital facsimiles in the Early English Books Online database (https://about.proquest.com/en/products-services/eebo/), or they were taken from the English Broadside Ballad Archive (https://ebba.english.ucsb.edu/) and used under a Creative Commons licence. The second contains a list of ballad writers and information about their social status.
