Craig’s research interests focus on the intersections between Science and Technology, (Geo)Social Imaginaries, Extractivism, and how different actors respond to the opportunities and challenges posed by these – usually through their (re)articulation as a means of capital accumulation. Presently, his work has focused on the NewSpace Economy (NSE), taking the nascent asteroid mining industry as a case study to explore emergent themes within the sector. This has intersected with areas such as Science and Technology Studies, Waste Studies, the Anthropocene, and the history and philosophy of science. Specific areas of interest include: 1) How do different actors (companies, private investors, States, publics, etc.) (re)construct ideas of the future?; 2) How do we conceive of (extra)terrestrial resources and respond to their (mis)management?; 3) How may we conceive of governing these areas and resources? Across these areas, he is focused on exploring what just and equitable futures could look like and how we approach these.
