Research overview

Looking at how British Army partners experience the process of reintroducing personnel returning from deployment into the family and to their children. Reintroduction will occur whilst (s)he hands over household responsibilities whilst ensuring the happiness of the children and potentially the care of the injured or traumatised partner. A focus on strategies utilised by Army partners to ensure the return “goes smoothly”, their experiences of and reflections on the process, formal and informal mechanisms.

The study is limited to Army partners as the support frameworks available to each of the services differ slightly - thus to maximise validity I have maintained a strict criteria. This study is therefore a contribution to the debate but it should be considered that there are many more experiences to be explored.
