Current Research

My current research focus is the development of GaSb quantum ring (QR) vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). The majority of production VCSELs emit at <1000nm, through use of GaSb QRs we have wavelength targets including telecoms wavelength (~1300nm and 1550nm), and so-called 'eye-safe' emission >1400nm for smartphone sensing and LiDAR.

Research overview

My current research focus is the development of GaSb quantum-ring vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers. More generally my research interests cover the design and fabrication of semiconductor devices utilising quantum nanostructures (quantum wells, wires, dots and rings).
