Abstract

We introduce Carbon Impact Analysis (CIA) as a managerial tool to highlight the positive impact that reuse can have for the overall footprint of an environmental technology. This workbook contains input, models, outputs (incl. graphs), assumptions and controls used to analyse the carbon impact of electric vehicle (EV) battery kits. Given an overall carbon investment to acquire the technology, this workbook traces the subsequent (positive and negative) recouping of that investment through use, remanufacturing, reuse and recycling. In particular, the workbook investigates electric vehicle (EV) battery kits and their usage in electric vehicles based in the UK and reuse as battery electrical stationary storage (BESS) to perform frequency response services to the UK grid.
