Abstract

Superfluids must surely constitute one of the most interesting and peculiar states of matter with which Nature has presented us. Their bizarre properties, and the almost unimaginable degree of coldness at which these are manifested, combine to make them objects of intense fascination for theorists and experimenters alike. The purpose of this article is to try and convey some idea of the two superfluids, helium-3 and helium-4, which are being studied at the University of Lancaster at the present time.
