Abstract

Decolonization of Higher Education is an important and compelling topic that needs to be carefully considered and implemented. Whilst there is much activity in this area, decolonization of assessment is receiving less attention. Following a recent presentation at the Lancaster University Education Conference it is clear that there is a need to educate, inform and engage staff and students from all backgrounds, ethnicities and experience to better understand the impact and discuss ways of removing implicit [and unintended] bias, whilst rethinking and reshaping assessment. This interactive workshop provided a space for participants to share experiences, shape opinions and shake up assessment practices that have the potential to revitalise assessment, making more inclusive and ethical. Data from the workshop will form the basis for further research and publication.
