Abstract

This paper presents the parametric studies carried out to investigate the structural behaviour of composite beam - column joint with steel beams and precast hollowcore slabs. A finite element model to simulate the structural behaviour of the composite beam was described and was used to study the structural behaviour of composite joints especially the moment-rotation characteristic. Parametric studies with various parameters such as beam sizes, thickness of the endplate, thickness of column web, depth of precast hollowcore slabs and stud spacing were carried out and results from the studies are presented.
