In this model the strong interaction producing the three-body decay of a spinning hadron is governed by the analytic continuation of resonant structures in the crossed scattering channels. Attention is given to the correspondence between the variables describing the configuration of the full decay amplitude and the kinematic invariants describing the scattering channels. Two-body scattering amplitudes free of kinematic singularities and physical threshold zeros are parametrized in terms of resonance poles, and crossing relations are developed to relate them to the three-body decay amplitudes. The formalism is applied to study the (πΣ ) mass spectra for the process Y 1 ∗ →Σππ .
