How unsanctioned management innovations come about

Project: Research

Description

The aim of this project is to explore how unsanctioned management innovations come about. Unsanctioned management innovations are characterized by activities that take place in the periphery of organizations and that are carried out without managements’ formal consent. By taking a practice-based approach, this seeks to explain how spontaneous everyday activity may contain a rich source of innovative work practices that make organizational processes more effective and efficient, thus serving as a potential source of renewed competitive advantage. Understanding these micro-processes of renewal and change is both theoretically and empirically important.
