Integrating design thinking into management education

Project: Research

Layperson's description

Curriculum in business schools has been traditionally focused on linear analytical skills. Students are usually provided with tested and well researched models that they apply and deduct implications for business. However, today’s global challenges that are usually very complex require a more creative lens and ability to deal with uncertainty. In order to equip the business and management students with set of skills that would enhance their analytical approach, the project focuses on incorporating design thinking methodology to the curriculum. This is achieved through a multidisciplinary teaching team composed on management and design academics. The team investigates how design-lead approach needs to be adapted in the context of management education and what value it brings to the students. The team also investigates its own practice as a multidisciplinary team utilising a design methodology in the process of curriculum redesign and innovation.
