Lancaster City Council is currently undertaking a comprehensive review of its Local Plan, which will guide future development in Lancaster, Morecambe, and Carnforth. A key focus of this initiative is to actively involve young people, a group often overlooked in these discussions. The project aims to ensure that their unique perspectives and ideas are included right from the start.

The consultancy project will feature interactive walking tours that explore potential development sites and co-design workshops where participants can help shape urban layouts and policies. The project's ultimate goal is to establish a framework that allows for ongoing engagement with young adults on various Council-related issues, ensuring that their voices continue to be heard in the future.

The consultancy will lay the foundation for these activities by:

Conducting site visits to understand project context and review existing evidence.
Developing branding and marketing materials to promote the initiative.
Facilitating project development through regular meetings and initial recruitment efforts.
Structuring workshops to foster engagement and creativity among participants.
The activities are scheduled to take place from February to March 2025.
