This book brought together a collection of international peer-reviewed contributions on e-learning, an aspect of ICT in education that was, at that time, evolving in terms of research, policy and practitioner development. The publication highlighted a range of issues that contributed to the setting up of a new Special Interest Group within the international ICT in education research community within IFIP. An initial chapter, written by the first editor, introduced a collection of contributions taking a variety of theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches, selected following review by 2 peers and presentation at an international conference.
